Contradiction
A contradiction is a compound proposition that is always false no matter what truth values are assigned to its individual propositions. The only valid interpretation of a contradictory statement is that it is false. Any contradiction is logically equivalent to \(0.\) The opposite of a contradiction is a tautology.
Here's an example of a contradiction:
I am asleep and I am not asleep.
You can verify that a compound proposition is a contradiction with a truth table. It must be false in every row, otherwise, it is definitely not a contradiction.
